那年婚礼上，你牵着我的手说执子之手，与子偕老。我老了，可你的手呢？

他浓眉大眼，英俊高大，一直就那么含情目目的注视着她。
He had bushy brows and big eyes, really handsome and tall, and he had been looking at her with such an expressive gaze.
她说：
She said:
那年你参军去边疆，出发前夕，我们漫步上饶，鄱阳湖边。你说想你就来饶河看月亮，你在水中的明月里。结果，只见明月，不见你！
That year you joined the army to the frontier, and on the eve of your departure, we strolled along Shangrao, on Poyang lake. You said, if i missed you, came to river Rao to see the moon, and you would be in the bright moon in the water. As a result, i only saw the moon but did not see you!
他笑而不答。
He smiled without answering.
那年你探亲带回一枚军功章一张相片，说这是你的礼物。两人还拍了合影作留念，一人一张留作念想。我的还在，你的呢？
That year you came back with a military badge and a photo saying it was your gift. We two also took a group photo as a souvenir, and each of us kept a picture for thought. Mine is still here, and yours?
他笑而不语。
He smiled without answering.
那年婚礼上，你牵着我的手说执子之手，与子偕老。我老了，可你的手呢？
That year at the wedding, you held my hand and said you would hold my hand forever and grow old with me. I'm old, but where's your hand?
他还是含笑深情注视。
He's still smiling and staring.
不跟你说了，你这个骗子，说话不算数。
I won't talk to you, you liar, and your words don't count.
他仍然是笑容回应阿莲。
He's still smiling back at Ah Lian.
思君令人老，岁月忽已晚。
Missing him made her age,times were late suddenly.
从早念到黑，从青丝念到白头，终于，阿莲念不动了。
From morning till dark, from black hair to white head, finally, Ah Lian was too old to miss him.
相顾无语，惟有泪千行。
looking at each other without a word, only some tear thousand lines.
贰
阿莲双目注视着床头柜上的一张军人的黑白照片，象一尊雕塑。
Ah Lian looked at a black-and-white picture of a soldier on the nightstand, like a statue.
军人胸前的军功章闪闪发亮。
The military seal on the soldier's chest was shining.
良久，无声，只见阿莲轻轻扶摸着相片上军人的眼角，脸庞。
For a long time, without a sound, I saw Ah Lian gently touched the soldier's eyes and face on the picture.
照片已经发黄，相框却被擦拭得油光发亮。
The picture had yellowed, but the frame was polished and shiny.
阿莲把相框抱在怀里。
Ah Lian held the picture frame in her arms.
喃喃：又到七夕了，你哪去了？说好的来看我的呢？
Muttering: it's Tanabata again. Where have you been? What happened to coming to see me?
是的，那年七夕说好给阿莲过生日，一场百年不遇的洪水就是命令。火速赶回部队参加抗洪抢险，为抢救一位洪流中的孕妇，他连一声告别都没有就走了。从此，这张挂在墙上的相片就放在了阿莲的床头柜上，与她朝夕相处。
Yes, on the Tanabata of that year, they made a appointment to celebrate Ah Lian's birthday,and a flood that never happened in a hundred years stopped that as an order. He hurried back to the army to fight the flood and take risks, to save a pregnant woman in the flood, he did not even say goodbye to leave. From then on, the picture hung on the wall was placed on Ah Lian's nightstand, and she lived with it every day.
阿莲盼着再与他诉说衷情，阿莲亦望着他带她去看月亮。
Ah Lian looked forward to telling him more about her feelings, and Ah Lian wished him to show her the moon again.
盼着想着，念着唠着，阿莲也不知自己说的是什么，记不清这相片上的人是谁。
Wished and missed, waited and muttered, gradually, Ah Lian didn't know what she was talking about and could not remember who was in the picture.
叁
饶河边，信河畔，惟有脚印一双。
On the side of river Rao , and the bank of river Xin, only a pair of footprints.
君走我未走，恨不与君老。君若怜我意，嫁给你可好？
You have gone without me, it's a forever regret as i couldn't get aging with you. If you have pity on me, will you marry me?
梧桐树，三更雨，不道死别更苦。
The sycamore tree, beaten by the midnight rain, felt painful, but Ah Lian's feeling for his death was far more bitter.
一叶叶，一声声，空阶滴到明。
Leaf by leaf, sound after sound, the empty steps were dropped to the morning.
青丝黄，容颜衰，阿莲老痴呆。
Dark hair greying, beauty face aging, Ah Lian became old and demented.
阿莲忘记了所有的人，也忘记了所有的事。
Ah Lian forgot everyone, and everything.
临终时，看着照片，她问他：你是谁？我怎么不认得你？
On her deathbed, looking at the picture, she asked him, who are you? How come I do not recognize you?
把照片抱在怀里，呢喃：你天天陪着我，对我这么好，我要嫁给你!
Holding the picture in her arms, murmuring: You are always with me, so good to me, I want to marry you!
溘然长逝！
Then，she passed away！
阿莲是我的奶奶，照片上的军人是我的爷爷水生。
