读《Tomorrow's Innovator》by Walter Isaacson

ELON Musk's ability:

  • to turn hyperbole into reality;
  • his intense focus on driving every problem down to the level of basic physics;
  • greater than normal ability to calculate risk and emotional ability to tolerate it;
  • driven by a larger sense of mission;

His products:

  • Tesla: electric cars and self-driving ones.
  • Tesla Energy: solar roof tiles and battery walls.
  • SpaceX: launch humans into orbit.
  • Starlink: rebuilding the Internet in space.
  • Neuralink: human machine interfaces, link to the neurons of a brain.
  • Boring Co. : building tunnels designed to conquer the scourge of traffic.
  • Starship: the biggest rocket which take us to Mars someday.

Earlier innovators:

  • Thomas Edison and Telsa Nikola: expends 90% of his time on the nuts and bolts of his products.
  • Henry Ford: to devise the products and build factories to churn them out.
  • Steve Jobs: to question every assumption in order to drill down to the first principles of physics.
  • Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos: hardcore intensity that can drive colleagues to near madness, drive them to do things they thought were impossible.
  • Benjamin Franklin and Leonardo da Vinci: obsessive and playful curiosity about all of the wonders of nature.

He has become the most important single individual in designing and deploying the innovations that bring us a few steps closer to each of these aspirations.
