They die—the dead return not—Misery
Sits near an open grave and calls them over,
A Youth with hoary hair and haggard eye—
They are the names of kindred,friend and lover,
Which he so feebly calls—they all are gone—
Fond wretch,all dead!those vacant names alone,
This most familiar scene,my pain—These tombs—alone remain.

《 死亡 /一》
他们已死,逝者如斯——
苦难是那华发丛生满眼憔悴的青年——
他坐在敞开的墓穴的近旁呼唤着亲人,朋友和至爱。
他有气无力地痛诉——
他们都已离去—
我挚爱的可怜虫们,他们全都走了!只剩下至空至虚的名字。
唯有我的痛苦——凄惨惨如此熟悉,
唯有这些坟冢孤单单——岿然如故。
