The wind sweeps across miles beyond sight

Gushing through Jade Gate standing high

Warriors of Han fought their Battle of Baideng

Beside Lake Qinghai unruly tribes lie in wait

Not a single man has been seen returning

From this battle-scarred field to date

Longing for home, the soldier gazes at the border

Drenched in misery under the moonlight

Upstairs at home in the lady's chamber

A sigh of despair echoes in the night.
