我的第58篇日记。
1.「retire」：还记得陌生女人之前说，如果她答应了伯爵的求婚，现在就可以过着一种「retired life」了吗？当时的「retired」是什么意思还记得吗？不记得就回去复习下~这里的「retire」是动词，表示to leave a place, especially to go somewhere quieter or more private，离开（尤指去僻静处）。
原句：The parents retired into their own room, and conversed in low tones.
例句：The two finished their dance and then Krista retired to her room saying she was tired.
2.「grasp」：常见的意思是“抓住，控制”，文中这里是名词，意思是a person's understanding，理解。

例句：You have to understand and have a grasp of what is going to happen.
turn over：移交，（使）翻转，变换（电视频道），仔细考虑
burst out：迸发，大声喊叫，突然发生
fond of：喜爱
steal out：（从……）偷偷地溜出
a trace of：微量的，一丝
attend to：注意，处理，听取，致力于
put in an apperance：露面，到场一会儿
by degrees：一点点地，逐渐地
