【头马】Three Tips on Time Management(CC4)

Good evening! Members and guests! I am Elena, and this is my CC4 speech:Three Tips on Time Management.

This September was a turning point for me.I became very busy since this September.

In September, I found a new internship jobin Accenture, a consulting company.
In September, I restarted to attend class,read paper and d presentation.
In September, my postgraduate tutor beganto have meetings with us every week and we had to read papers do academicresearch.
In September, I joined TMC and became amember of it. I did my CC speech or CL manual every week.

So many things were in front of me, like abig mountain on my shoulder. I wanted to handle everything well. The resultwas, I couldn’t finish them in time, let alone did everything well. My life wasin chaos. The sky in my world is gray.

A famous song told us, what doesn’t killyou makes you stronger. Gradually, I began to get used to the busy life andtried my best to do everything. The sky in my world was getting brighter.

Tonight I want to share with you three tipson time management that I learned from my own experience.

Tip1: Set priorities
I found that setting priorities is ofcritical importance. The internship job, the class, the papers, TMC, and myhobbies, they all important to me, but I can’t deal with them well at the sametime. Because I am not a superwoman. Mytime and energy is limited.

So I analyzed these things based on theirimportance and emergency. The internship job in Accenture is very valuablewhich can increase my work experience and very helpful when I apply for jobs. Emergency.The class, papers and academic research can train my logical thinking andwriting ability. Emergency. AttendingTMC meeting can improve my speech level and leadership skills. Running andreading are good for my body and brain.

So the priority is internship job, theclass, papers and academic research, TMC and my hobbies. I am trying to allocatemy time and energy according to this order.

Tip2: Make a list
Making a list can let you know the thingsyou should do and prevent your from forgetting.

You can make a long term list and a shortterm list.

Take me for example, I usually make aweekly list and a daily list. On the weekly list, I will list the things I haveto do in the next week. This week I have to work for 4 days, three papers toread, a presentation in class, a prepared speech and a TTM in TMC , and so on.For the daily list, I will use my phone memo to write down things I should dotoday. So when the time is up, my cellphone will remind me that I should dosomething.

Furthermore, don’t forget to list thethings not emergency but important for you, such as English learning, exerciseand reading.

It is maybe difficult for you to finish allthe things on the list, but it will let you know how many things you ought todo which really helpful.

Tip3: Be focus
Be focus can greatly improve your workefficiency.

Although I was busy all the day, my workefficiency was low. Cellphone is the big bad evil guy. He always distracts mefrom what I am doing. Taking reading papers for example, when one page wasfinished, I picked up my cellphone, opend the WeChat, read the messages, andlook at the friend’s moment(刷朋友圈). 15 minutes had past when I put down my phone. Then after 10minutes, I picked up my cellphone again. Again and again.

I realized that problem, and said to mycellphone :”please stay away from me when I am working”. I forced myself to focus on what I amdoing. For example, in one certain hour, I thought I should pay attention to mypaper and couldn't look at cellphone.
This really works and my efficiency hasbeen improved. I can do more things in one day and all of them can be finishedwith a high quality.
So, be focus on what you are doing and yourefficiency can be improved.

Time management is important for everyoneespecially when you have many things to handle. It’s no big deal that you can’thandle everything well. Just try to manage your time and take care of yourself.
Setting the priority so that you will knowwhat you should do first, second and thirdly.
Making a list so that you will understand howmany things you should do.
Focusing on what you are doing so that yourefficiency can be improved.
