Ray was a naughty student. But he was smart and hard-working. And he never lost a race or a chess game. He always came first in school. He was so pleased with himself that he would always refuse to help others.
雷是个淘气的学生，但他聪明勤奋。他从未输掉过一场比赛或一盘国际象棋。他在学校里总是名列前茅。他自视甚高，总是拒绝帮助别人。
“Ray, are you able to go to the market and buy some eggs?” asked his mother. Ray gave an excuse and refused, “Sorry, Mom. I would be busy with my homework.”
“雷，你能去市场买些鸡蛋吗？”他的母亲问道。雷找了个借口拒绝了：“对不起，妈妈，我要写作业。”
Jack, one of Ray’s friends, wanted his help and asked, “Please help me solve this math problem.” “You must use your brain and solve it yourself.” replied the arrogant Ray. Only one thing was important to Ray. His precious pen! He considered it as his lucky pen. But one day Ray lost the pen.
雷的一个朋友杰克想得到他的帮助，问他：“帮我看下这道数学题。”傲慢的雷回答说：“你必须动脑筋，自己解决。”。只有一件事对雷来说很重要。他珍贵的钢笔！他认为这是他的幸运笔。但是有一天雷把钢笔弄丢了。
Worried Ray looked everywhere for the pen, but couldn’t find it. Helplessly, he went to his mother for help, “Mom, I lost my lucky pen! Please help me find it. I have a test tomorrow.”
忧心忡忡的雷到处找钢笔，但找不到。他无奈地向母亲求助：“妈妈，我的幸运笔丢了！请帮我找它。我明天要考试。”
His mother ignored his request and said, “I’m sorry. I’m going out with Aunty Christme.”
他的母亲没有理会他的请求，说：“对不起。我要和克里斯蒂阿姨一起出去。”
With tears rolling down his eyes. Ray asked his friend for help, “I have lost my lucky pen. I cannot finish the test without it. Please help me find it!” “I’m sorry, Ray. I have to revise for tomorrow’s test. I don’t have time to waste.” Jack replied.
雷泪流满面，向他的朋友求助：“我的幸运笔丢了。没有它我无法完成考试。请帮我找到它！”“对不起，雷。我必须为明天的考试复习。我没有时间浪费了。”杰克回答。
Ray sat at his desk, crying his eyes out, when his mother walked in to give his lucky pen to him. “I found it under the sofa in the drawing room.” said his mother.
当雷的母亲走进来把他的幸运笔送给他时，雷坐在书桌前哭得眼泪汪汪。“我在客厅的沙发下找到的。”他的母亲说。
“Many thanks. Mom!” said Ray. And thus, Ray learnt his lesson.
“非常感谢。妈妈！”雷说。于是雷吸取了教训。
After that day, Ray helped everyone when possible for him.
那天之后，雷尽可能地帮助所有人。
