Dear readers.
We love words.
How often do you think about words? I confess thatI think about them a lot, not just in my role as editor, but also in my everyday life. Do I walk or scurry? Is a sweater orange or tangerine? For me, selecting a fun juicy word is like picking a perfect piece of fruit at the market. There are many similar words, but some are just tastier than others.
It's easy to get caught up in thinking that sharing wonderful new words with our children is the only way to help them develop language skills. In fact, rich vocabulary is only one part of it. It's even more important for our children to learn how to converse, how to take turns in conversation. Had to ask questions and listen. Throughout each issue, you'll find prompts to help spark conversation with your child. If you give some a try, I'd love to hear how it goes.
Sincerely,
Megan and Dombrink-Green, editor.
