First day Adina sent us the cover of this book and let us guess what is this story telling. There are two pairs of boots in the pic. I guessed it is telling about an adventure of two people. When they come over difficulties together in the advance or life, they walked to the end of this longest ride.
I never guessed a book about what it might be telling, before I read it. Interesting.
Second day Adnia sent us a cover back of this novel. A story about two couples.
Third day we read and known Ira first. Ira recalled his life in chapter one. How his father influenced his life when he was young. His parents were both live long time, but Ira found that he got cancer. So his time is measured in months, not years. He thought about how to die. I guess the coming chapter will tell us how he did and who he met.
When I read this book, I feel it's good. I love to read good novel, and the cover said it is a New York Time Bestseller-It should be a wonderful story. But there are many words I don't know. It's ok if people know what the story told. But for OCD people and the people who be educated under exam mode, I do want to know what are their meanings.
I just realized Adina's reading method is what our high school English teacher taught us. But that time we had lots of exams and read articles for finishing tasks, I couldn't feel any enjoyment. We called it in Chinese is "联系上下文". It is a pity I didn't follow the method at that time. Obviously look up dictionary and just remember words is more quickly and easier than guess, check the meaning of words and try to understand the story background, etc.
Adina read the articles for us and insisted on reading them every day. Gradually a habit and atmosphere affect me, let me pick up books and enjoy reading. Share read feelings also help people understand the book deeply and in different view points.
In the end, I have to say that look up dictionaries and learn words by rote are boring. If you don't have an instant exam, check out Adina's method, then read the novel happily.
