Racist misbuilt in our DNA of America. As long as we take a blind eye to the pain of those still suffering from the old oppression, we will never escape those old origins. The only safeguard people of the color have is the right to defense. And we won’t even give them that. Which means that the premise of civil rights has never been fulfilled. Due to the failure of our justice system, our public defenses regime in particular. Jame Coe is alive and kicking. Laws have made it illegal to blacks and whites to be buried in the same cemetery, they categorize people into court rooms and doctor rooms. They punish a black people for seeking medical attention in a white hospital. Some may claim that slavery has ended. But tell that to the inmates who are kept and caged and don’t have any rights at all. People like my client and millions of people like him who are relegated to a subclass of human existence in our prisons. There was no alternative to justice in this case, there was no other option, to decide against my plaintiff, it should choose in a lime of the pocket of the prison owners over providing basic defense for the people who live in them. Is that the America that this court really want to live in? That money is more important than humanity? That criminality is confused with mental health? The 6th amendment was ratified in 1791. It has been 226 years then. Let’s finally guarantee its rights to all of us citizens.

 Some of the powerful man in the world are gathered in this clearing. Members of one of our country’s most exclusive clubs. Invitation only. Unless, of course, you invite yourself. They gather here to seek God between the branches of these magnificent trees. They eat together, they piss next to each other. They carve up the world like a Sunday roast. This is where the  real power is. No women or presidents allowed. The former, I am not. The latter, I will be again. Because I have managed to reduce a national election down to one state. And while these men here can’t swing the votes of an entire nation…one measly state? Well , that they can do. And that’s why I’m here. So welcome to Elysian Fields.
