CC3-I have a Soulmate (761 Words)
I have a soulmate. He teaches me a lot about the world and life; He accompanies me when I feel lonely; He gives me light and confidence; He saves me from self-abasement and depression. He never leaves me.
He is not my husband, not my male friend, and not my male colleague. Do you know who is he?
He is the book, one of the most important thing in my life. Book is my best friend, my great teacher, my honey lover, and my lifetime soulmate.
34 years ago, I was born in a small village. Our family moved to a small city when I was 8 years old. My parents started from scratch in that city. We lived a poorer life than most of my classmates. We had no house, and had to live with my grand-parents.
When I was in junior high school, I was an adolescent girl, very sensitive and had strong sense of self-esteem. At that time, I was a little fat and not good-looking, and had only average grades in the school. So I was very ashamed and self-abased. I was always in my own world, and did not want to open myself to my classmates, even my families. I felt they did not understand me at all.
During those period of self-abasement, my parents were too busy with earning money to care for my inner space and emotion.
Luckily, I had books. Each day, after class, most of the time, I read all kinds of books which are Chinese essays, novels, and world-famous books. From these books, I knew a lot of interesting people and stories; I knew more and more about the world; I got a lot of touch and happiness; The most important, I found that I had a lot of friends in the books. I told them what was on my heart. I did not feel lonely anymore.
I still remembered the novel Ordinary World which is written by Lu Yao. Shao Ping is the hero. He lived a poorer life than me, and because of poorness, he was despised by most of his classmates. But he did not feel sorry about this and did not mind what other people think about him. He turned to books. Books gave him warm, gave him love, gave him light and confidence, and everything that a friend can give.
I was resonating with this book Ordinary World. I thought Shao Ping as my best friend and my model. His story inspired me a lot, liked a flame in the night, gave me hope and confidence.
He let me know that although I am poor and not good-looking, there is no need to be ashamed for these. From that time on, I started to open myself to the people surrounding me.
Thanks books for giving me rich knowledge, which made me a good partner to chat, and good at Chinese class. Gradually, I became more and more confident.
You see, book cured my self-abasement. It let me know that poorness is not a big deal, a rich and powerful heart is more important than everything.
Book did not just cure my self-abasement, it also saved my life from depression.
Two years ago, I suffered from depression. I felt very painful, and found no interest from life. I did not know why I live. I did not want to talk to anybody, and even wanted to kill myself.
It was book, again, saved my life. During this period, I read many psychological books and knew many stories of people who had ever suffered from depression. They overcame the depression and lived a better life than before finally.
I found that I am not alone. From that on, I started to accept the depression, accept my un-perfectness, read books every day, join badminton club and Toastmaster club. And Little by little, I had more and more like-minded friends, I loved myself much more than before. It is books which change my mind and my life style.
My dear friends, I have a soulmate, book. As time passed, all our families, all our friends will leave us one day, sooner or later. But, he never leaves us.
My dear fellow toastmasters, if you feel lonely, turn to books; If you want to know more about yourself, the world and others, turn to books; If you want to be an interesting people, a considerate people, a happy people, turn to books.
Rading more, reading as you like, enjoy reading. Your life will be better and better.
