《Gathering Blue》是the giver quartet四部曲的第二本，但是跟第一本内容上并没有关联。
四部分别是《The Giver》《Gathering Blue》《Messenger》《Son》（中文：记忆传授人，历史刺绣人，森林送信人，儿子）
《Gathering Blue》设定的背景是一个与现实世界相似但是又很原始状态的社会，主人公Kira生来腿有残疾，在她的妈妈去世以后，她因为自己独特的天赋被统治者选为刺绣人。这期间他认识了木匠Thomas 和传唱者Jo以及能为人带来欢乐的Matt。通过Kira的视角揭露了统治者的阴谋。情节并不复杂，基本上都能预料到事情的走向，结尾同样是开放式的。整体给我的感觉比较平淡。但读起来比《Number the Stars》累，虽然蓝思指数差不多，因为涉及到刺绣和木工的一些词汇，而且Matt在里面是一个没有接受过教育的小男孩，他的语言感觉不太正规。
