本章讲述哈利就在旅馆，过着几天自己想要的生活，不用偷偷摸摸学习，也有像样的早餐，购买开学的物品后，在旅馆中偷听到阿兹卡班囚徒是伏地魔的接替者，此人被逼疯，用同一个魔法杀死十几个人，目标是哈利，这就是为什么哈利使用魔法却没事。
