1) Dad was already mad at me for tearing up the sod, so I knew I was in for it.
In for sth: to be going to experience something unpleasant very soon.
e.g.: I know I will be in for it if I don’t finish my work on time.
2) I thought he might actually get a kick out of what happened.
Get a kick out of: to enjoy doing something very much
e.g.: I get a real kick out of shopping for new clothes.
3) But I guess he had this heart set on rolling that snowball down the hill, and he was really mad.
Have heart set on sth: to be desiring and expecting something.
e.g.: I had my heart set on going to Japan.
4) I told Rowley he was being a big baby, and we got in a shoving match.
Shoving match: two people angrily shoving each other
e.g.: The car were hit by a bicycle, and they got in a shoving match.
5) We banged out a bunch of characters real quick, but that turned out to be the easy part.
Bang out: A term used to describe doing something quickly.
e.g.: I have to bang out the essay outline tonight.

1) In less than a minute, he reduced all our hard work to nothing.
e.g.: I cleaned the house for more than 3 hours, but my son throw out all of the toys in a minute and reduced all my hard work to nothing.
2) When we tried to think up some jokes, we kind of hit a wall.
e.g.: After running for 10 miles, I kind of hit a wall and can’t continue anymore.
3. Dairy
Today, one of my co-worker said she is planning to visit Cambodian. That reminds me of my great time with my best friends there around two years ago. To be honest with you, that was my first time went abroad. As a mother of two kids, it is really difficult to travel around without carrying the kids. I always have my heart set on traveling, but whenever I talk about this with my husband, I hit the wall all the time. Anyway, with the kids growing up, hepefully the situation will turn better.
