part one vacabularies

1, haggard /ˈhæɡəd/ (尤指因病或睡眠不足)憔悴的,形容枯槁的,困倦的 Someone who looks haggard has a tired expression and shadows under their eyes, especially because they are ill or have not had enough sleep.

raw: It's a familiar sight on college campuses across the country: Haggard-looking students slump over library desks and laptops.

2, slump /ˈslʌmp/ (因疲劳、生病等而重重)倒下,跌倒 If you slump somewhere, you fall or sit down there heavily, for example because you are very tired or you feel ill.

s: I saw the driver slumped over the wheel.

3, zombie /ˈzɑːmbi/ 可数名词  麻木迟钝的人;毫无生气的人;无精打采的人 You can describe someone as a zombie if their face or behaviour shows no feeling, understanding, or interest in what is going on around them.

raw: Zombie-like, they lurch across campus in search of caffeine and sugar.

4, lurch /ˈlɚʧ/ VERB 动词(在不同的行动、态度之间)左冲右撞,摇摆不定 If you say that a person or organization lurches from one thing to another, you mean they move suddenly from one course of action or attitude to another in an uncontrolled way.

5, heroic /hıˈrowık/ ADJ-GRADED 矢志不渝的;艰苦卓绝的 If you describe an action or event as heroic, you admire it because it involves great effort or determination to succeed.

raw: However, studies show that these heroic efforts come at a cost (beyond the nightly pizza deliveries and pricey espresso(浓咖啡) drinks).


part two sentences

1, Dear God, they even stop flossing. 我喜欢这句:天哪,都不洗牙了!

2, Commit to doing something every day (not something you already do) just for the practice of building a habit and not making excuses. It could be calling your mother, meditating for five minutes, or finding one thing in your house that needs to be thrown out or recycled.我喜欢这个建议~


part three summary

Willpower can be used up. I need it to get up early and go Lab on time. I also need it to remind me that snackes are not healthy and I should have meals at cateen of school. Most importantly, I need it to keep me focused on my researches at worktime. But, the good news is that we can exercise it each day like a muscle to build strength for all our willpower challenges. Just pick one willpower challenge and exercise it as much as you can.
