如果我们自己表达同样的意思，可能会这样写：

The outbreak in China of covid-19, a respiratory disease, can be compared to the last one, SARS.

或

The outbreak in China of covid-19, a respiratory disease, reminds many of the last one, SARS.

虽然这两句表达有别，但本质上其实是一个意思。原句也是同样的意思，只不过句中的 invite 让整个句子增色不少。

当我们想表达“X 和 Y 可以相提并论”或“X 会让人们自然想到 Y”时，就可以使用“X invites a comparison to Y.”这个句式。

需要注意，X 和 Y 都是名词或名词短语。
