Adapt Vs. Adopt  适应  Vs. 收养/采取

Adapt 

1.Alter or change something in a small way以微小的方式改变某事

2.A person changes, adjusts or gets used to a new situation一个人改变、调整或适应新的环境

3.When companies and organisations change or adjust to something new当公司和组织改变或适应新事物时

4.Change a book or a text suitable for a TV program or movie改编

Usage 使用

1.When someone adapts something, there are no prepositions  当某人适应某物时，没有介词

例句：The movie "The Wandering Earth" was adapted from the novel with the same name. 电影《流浪地球》是根据同名小说改编的。

2.If someone adapts him/herself, the preposition "to" has to be added after the verb  如果某人自己适应，动词后面必须加介词“to”。

例句：He doesn't like moving, because he finds it hard to adapt to new environments. 他不喜欢搬家，因为他很难融入新的环境。

Adopt

1.To take somebody’s child into your family and you become his/her legal parent把别的孩子带进你的家庭，并成为他/她的合法父母

2.take up, use使用，采取

例句：The government will adopt new policy. 政府将采取新政策。

Usage使用

1.actively: no preposition after adopt主动: 领养后不使用介词

例句：She is eager to adopt a child. 她渴望领养一个孩子。

2.passively: someone (something) has been adopted by someone (something)  被动地:某人(某物)被某人(某物) 领养

例句：The orphan was adopted by a nice family. 那个孤儿被一个很好的家庭领养了
