57: A Challenge

a challenge

07/28/2017

There is a big challenge in front of me. Yesterday I met my teaching mentor arranged by New Oriental. I tought what I had prepared to him. There were many problems in my presentation.

First, my ppt was awful because it was too simple to call it a PPT. My idea that I want to show simplicity is not correct. Because real simplicity is complexity. But mine didn't have any background picture just words. It is so plain that nobody will like it.

Second, my teaching was out of order which was my biggest problem, I thought. When I finished my presentation, what he asked really upset me. He asked that what the difference between me and a grammar book. At first, I didn't get what he meaned. A few seconds later, I realized that my teaching was so mechanical. All I taught was from the book. It was so boring. My own thoughts were necessary. I have to make the class alive and attractive.

I spent 2 and a half hours on the bus while only one hour with my mentor. Though it was a short period of time. It was precious for me. Without his help, I can't be diagnosed with these two serious problems. Where there is challenge, there is hope and progress. I will take that challenge and conquer it.
