Today's UI design theme is a countdown timer. There are many occasions that we need to use a timer, a timer for napping, a timer for exercise, a timer for oven.
The first thing came to my mind was a regular universal timer that you can use anywhere. I held the thoughts and searched in my mind about other interesting timers I've used. Recently, the timer I used most was Amazon Echo Alexa, a voice-based speaker. I set timers very frequently for a lot of things, like boiling oats, doing laundry. I enjoy giving it voice commands when my hands are free, but there are times that when I sat right beside it, I wish there was a way to silent it immediately, rather than calling "Alexa, stop timer".
So, I thought, what if the new Google Home has a timer like this? What if you can just gently touch its top and stop it when you are nearby, when you see your timer is approaching the end? I chose Google Home over Alexa, simply because it looks cuter ;)
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the Google Home shape (based on a picture of it), added a countdown timer, with the famous four dots on its top. The hand indicates that you can touch the top to stop it.
