在聊今日词根之前，我们来听个故事吧。
the Love Story of Psyche And Cupid
There was a king who had three very beautiful daughters and the beauty of the youngest named Psyche was so wonderful that no words could express. Venus, the goddess of beauty, was jealous. She provoked her son, Cupid, to punish Psyche.
从前，有个国王，生了三个女儿，个个美若天仙。最小的叫Psyche，更是天下无双，美的无法用语言描述。美神维纳斯（Venus，古希腊叫阿佛洛狄特Aphrodite）觉得受到威胁，心生妒忌，她不能忍受有人比她颜值还高。于是维纳斯心生一计，她让儿子小爱神丘比特（Cupid，古希腊叫厄洛斯或埃罗斯Eros）去惩罚她，让她嫁给世界上最凶猛的动物。
But when he saw Psyche, he was amazed by her beauty and loved her immediately. He decided to get marry with Psyche secretly. One day, Psyche got lost in the forest and discovered a magnificent palace. Then she met Cupid and fell in love with him. Cupid treated her so well but never let her know what he looks like.
但是小丘见到Psyche，对她的美貌一见倾心，想跟她偷偷结婚。一天，Psyche迷路了，误入了小丘的宫殿，对小丘也是一见钟情，于是人神相爱，并且结婚。由于Psyche只是个凡人，小丘一直没让她知道自己的真实身份和真面目。
She invited her two sisters to the palace, However, Psyche‟s luxurious life caused her sisters' envy. After they had known that Psyche had never seen her husband's looks, they told Psyche the inhabitants in the valley said her husband was a monster. They gave Psyche a knife and let her cut off her husband‟s head. When Cupid had fallen asleep, Psyche lighten the lamp and held the knife.
Psyche的两个姐姐很嫉妒她在神殿里的生活，便欺骗她说小丘是个怪物，并怂恿她晚上偷偷看他。还给了Psyche一把刀，叫她把小丘的头割下来。小丘睡着以后，Psyche点上灯，拿着刀走向他。
Suddenly, she found her husband was so gorgeous instead of an ugly monster. She was regret but it was late cause Cupid opened the eyes and found everything. “O foolish Psyche, is it thus you repay my love? After having disobeyed my mother‟s commands and made you my wife, will you think me a monster and cut off my head?Love could not dwell where there is no trust.” So saying, he fled away, leaving poor Psyche lying on the ground with tears.
她发现小丘原来是一个英俊的少年，而绝非丑陋的怪物。她很后悔听信谣言。这时，小丘突然被惊醒，明白了一切，于是他说，我为了你违背母亲的诺言，跟你结婚，你竟然如此对我，认为我是怪物，想割我的头？没有信任，何来爱情？说完，小丘愤然离去，留下悲痛万分的Pshche。
后来Psyche开始四处漂泊，寻找情人。经历了无数磨难之后终于与Cupid重聚，结为夫妇，并成为灵魂、精神之神。
为了追求爱情，Psyche不辞千辛万苦，不畏强权暴力，决心踏入神的禁地来寻找小丘。
Psyche的精神与毅力最终感动了奥林波斯山上的主神宙斯，于是宙斯赐其永生，赋予其神性，并且命其掌管人类的灵魂。于是，“psyche”也就成了灵魂女神。
