When you are over 40, half a life gone：

Can you still laugh a hearty laugh, like a child with glittering clear eyes?

Can you show more patience or tolerance to people whom you disagree with?

Can you remain an interesting person, exuding humour or wit now and then?

Can you stay enthusiastic about work, which is no longer a meer means of scraping a living?

Do you think of philosophy when your sleep dies at 4 o'clock early in the morning?

Are you already a true lover of this world, though aware of the toughness of life?

Can you see through the outward appearance and look on the inner hearts when you are over 40?

(Old Testament: Samuel 1 - 16:7: '...they look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.')
