I’ve been keeping writing in English for 17 days which was full of ups and downs. My girlfriend would name a topic for me every day. She might send me one article and then I would use my own words to summarize and response or give me some random topics. It’s always a challenge for me to write or speak in English.
Enough inputs guarantee a good output and enough outputs will make us consume and integrate what we input. In some degree, outputs outweigh inputs.
I keep reading and listening books written in English for over two years but seldom speak or write. Although I’ve collected plenty of new words and sentences, I still use rather simple words and sentence structures which firstly flash into my mind when needed to compose one complete sentence. The deep root is that I only learn instead of using. Every time I finished one book, I only had a very shallow memory of the new words. I could guess what the word mean the next time I meet it but couldn’t think of using it when I need to express something by talking or writing. This is what I should improve.
But the first step for me is to be accustomed to writing in English instead of using super words or complex sentence structures. And gradually, I could try to replace some simple words with the new words I’ve collect. Even if I only write with simple words, the more I write, the more fluently my English thinking will be.
During the first few days, writing was like a task but now it has become a routine for me. I’ll sit before my desk and write when I come home from work and never leave before I finish it. It’s the exact time I could feel the flow.
Perfect practice makes perfect. Keep writing.
