Thereexists the perception that it is necessary for the government and thecorporation to share all their scientific founding with other countries in theworld. From my perspective, I completely disagree with this point of view.

First,certain discoveries have already cost too much money and work. It does not makesense to hand them over to others for free. For example, the USA governmentspent millions of dollar sending people to the moon. It took thousands scientistsand specialists’ hard work to create the spaceship that sent the astronauts thousandsof miles away from Earth. The whole program cost Americans at least a decadebefore they could confidently send Neil Armstrong to the moon obit. Therefore,there is no way for Americans to give away the data they gain from Apolloprogram to Chinese, Russian, or the world.  

Second,the government and the corporation sharing scientific discoveries with othercountries may lose competitiveness. For example, Intel can manufacture the mostpowerful computer chip that can allow computers or smart phone to function asefficiently as possible. If it shares its discoveries about how to improvecomputer chips to Chinese companies, the Chinese may stop buying chips fromIntel and Chinese will produce their own chips instead. Consequently, Intelwill lose the Chinese market. Similarly, when Russians reveal the secret ofpowerful plane engines to Chinese, Chinese will have no interest buying Russianplanes.

Third,sharing scientific discoveries with rogue counties may endanger the world. Forexample, although many countries know how to make nuclear bomb, they all keepthe secret to themselves not only because they all sign treaty to prevent theproliferation of nuclear weapon but also they fear that some evil organization whichgets their hands on nuclear weapon may use it to attack them. So, it is not hardto understand why Americans will not share nuclear technology to countries suchas North Korea or to organizations like Al Qaeda.

Inconclusion, it is not advisable for the government and the corporation to shareall scientific discoveries with other countries, because it will not cover theircost, they will lose their advantages, and revealing the discoveries to nefariouscountries will lead to disasters.
