咸丰年间正值太平天国革命运动的高潮时期，清政府财政拮据，国库亏空，被迫于咸丰三年（公元1853年）开铸大钱，当五十以下计值为“咸丰重宝”，咸丰重宝当十钱虽然是咸丰大钱中计值较低的品种，但是由于铸造时间早，流通区域广，所以也是自古以来古泉爱好者最关心并致力于收藏和欣赏的计值钱币。

During the period of Xianfeng, when the revolutionary movement of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was at its climax, the Qing government was forced to make large amounts of money in the three years of Xianfeng (1853 A.D.). When less than fifty yuan was counted as "Xianfeng Chongbao", Xianfeng Chongbao was counted as "Xianfeng Chongbao". Although Xianfeng Chongbao was a low-valued variety of Xianfeng Big Qian, it was also an ancient spring since ancient times because of its early founding time and wide circulation area. 咸丰重宝的铸造材料主要是黄铜，官版材质为以铜75%、锌20%、锡3%以及其他配合，母钱含铜纯度更高，其品类很繁杂，当属清宝泉局重宝当十最为珍贵！
