The Anatomy of an Oak
The oak is a long-lived deciduous tree, famous as the king tree of the Western world. Like all other plants, it starts its life from a little seed. It drinks water and eats the minerals in the soil to get higher step by step. As it grows, it has more arranged and lobed leaves, strenching branches, and towering build. When it turns 20, the mission of reproduction drops on its shoulder. During the coming 60 years, it will bloom and produce acorn, the seed of oak, every year until 80 years old. Oak tree produce both male and female flowers, which means one oak tree can solely produce seed. The male flower will hang on the yellowish cluster while the females ones will hide among leaves. The male flowers produce lots of pollen, which, with the help of wind, will fall into the female flower. And finally, they produce the acorn. The acorn, or say the future seed, is hard and covered with a cap, with different texture. Through the 60 years of production, its ability will peak between 50 to 80 years old. From 80 years old, the ability will diminish. It will still be alive, and it is expected to live 600 years old when it will achieve 130 feet (40m). When it comes the time that an old oak dies, it has produced thousands of sons and daughters. Then the family of the oak survives on the planet generations by generations.
