During my whole life, I have been criticized by my parents for not being polite to the elder generations, which I am not. I have never be disrespectful to the relatives. But I surely wouldn't offer active greetings. People in the rural area are used to treat silence as impoliteness, that is unreasonable.
As a matter of fact, I am such a guy who is not willing to talk to people with an old age, especially those who always wanted to teach me how to behavior. The only elderly person I am close to is my grandmother who raised me as a child. As for others, they are all like strangers to me. I know this is usually called rebellion, but I don't care.
