not flinch from (doing) something:不管一件事情多么困难或令人不快，也愿意去做。flinch字面意思是因为疼痛、害怕或生气背过脸或背过身，引申为退缩，有身体动作的意味在里面，不光是思想意愿上的。
*She flinched at the touch of his hand.他一碰她，她就躲开了。
原文试译一下吧:那个逃兵知道一旦被抓到，准会没命。所以不管什么坏事，他都敢干得出来。
因此Ned大人才说没什么人别这种人“more dangerous”。

大概就是打马上前的意思，古人驭马这一个“驾”的动作怎么表示呢？我不懂。主要是这个 sent...into a trot中send的用法很有意思。
