Lesson 83 After the elections
The former Prime Minister, Mr. Wentworth Lane, was defeated in the recent elections. He is now retiring from political life and has gone abroad. My friend, Patrick, has always been a fanatical opponent of Mr. Lane's Radical Progressive Party. After the elections, Patrick went to the former Prime Minister's house. When he asked if Mr. Lane lived there, the policeman on duty told him that since his defeat, the ex-Prime Minister had gone abroad. On the following day, Patrick went to the house again. The same policeman was just walking slowly past the entrance, when Patrick asked the same question. Though a little suspicious this time, the policeman gave him the same answer. The day after, Patrick went to the house once more and asked exactly the same question. This time, the policeman lost his temper.' I told you yesterday and the day before yesterday,' he shouted, 'Mr. Lane was defeated in the elections. He has retired from political life and gone to live abroad!' I know,' answered Patrick,' but I love to hear you say it!'

Temper has a number of related yet distinct meanings. In addition to describing a tendency to anger, temper can also refer to one’s mood in general; if you use the word in this sense, you might describe someone's temper as "angry" or "mild." Are you feeling good or bad, cheerful or irritable right now? This is your mood.
Mood refers to how you feel at the present time. If you want to ask your boss for a raise, wait until he or she is in a good mood. Don't ask, though, if he or she is "in a mood" - that means the person is grumpy. If you are in the mood for something like ice cream or spicy food, you would like to have it now. Mood can also describe the attitude of a group of people or the feeling of a film, novel or piece of music.

练习感悟：
1.当你不走心的朗读时，你的手指怎么都不想发送这样的朗读。虽然听上去也很不错，但是你自己知道，你在放水。
2. 读得正确，再加上Rachel的讲解，一下子就有一种茅塞顿开的感觉，原来我发这个音，舌头在这，声带在震动，嘴唇是这样摆的，有一种完完全全摸着口腔读一遍的感觉，比如今天学习的，以前就觉得简单，一个清辅音，不震动声带，一个浊辅音，震动声带；今天听了讲解，明白了，舌头跟软腭接触发音，然后要让它俩分开，气流冲出去，所以实际上是两个步骤，一个是停止，一个是释放。
3. 家里的娃儿笑点异于大人，突然想起来: 笑点低用英语怎么说呢？ amused by even the weakest joke, ready to laugh at the smallest thing; 那么，笑点呢？funny bits, humorous parts, punchline

4. 昨天还碰到了一个单词fast，可以当动词跟名词用，只有一个意思，“节食、禁食、斋戒”，幸亏只有这么一个意思。

5. same这个词，原文有多处，发现发的不够自然，双元音发的不够清晰好听，还有m，因为太赶着要发鼻音了，所以把前面的元音忽略了。赶快看看rachel如何讲M的发音。
