由于近期野象活动频繁且路线多变，为确保过往车辆、人员安全，8名野象监测人员携无人机等设备在勐海县海往公路对野象行动进行实时监测。

当晚18时许，一辆由西双版纳勐往县开往勐海县的中型客车(无乘客)行至野象活动路段时抛锚，监测人员立即对车辆驾驶员进行安全劝离，然而驾驶员执意留守车辆。之后不久，野象迅速移动至中巴车边，用头部撞击车头挡风玻璃，并在车身旁逗留至20时30分许方才离去，所幸未造成人员伤亡。
Around 18:00 in the evening, a minibus (Without passengers) that left from Mengwang County of Xishuangbanna to Menghai County broke down when it drove to the road section with the activities of wild elephants. The supervisors persuaded the driver to go away immediately. However, the driver insisted on staying in the bus. Afterwards, a wild elephant moved quickly to the side of the minibus and began to strike the windshield of the bus head with its head. The elephant stayed beside the minibus until 20:30 and went away. Fortunately, it caused no casualties.
目前，当地林业局、森林公安局仍组织人员进行持续监测，以便及时发布预警，防止人象冲突。
