This is a review of my lesson. I learned 3 things from this course. What is the tomato method? What value it has? How can I use it?
what is tomato method?
For a short term, it could be understood as a skill to allocate your enery in 30 minutes. You may spend 25 minutes to focus on a writing, reading, planning, or executing a task, and then take a 5-minutes-break.
For a long term, you may use it to adjust your biology clock, to attain your mid-term and long-term targets, to accumulate your learning results.
I have just got the access to tomato clock. I prefer to make it an effective way to guide my time that I care most - in the morning, afternoon and evening.
In the morning, for example, I get up at 6 o'clock. Then I may use 1 tomato to listen to the English podcast program. 1 tomato to record my own sentences applying in my real life, and 1 tomato to exercise oral speaking in front of a mirror.
Then by 7:30, I have got 3 tomatos to track the whole process and be able to share my learning _ sentences, words, phrases, etc with other people, no matter in paper or by face to face, if I have the honor to meet someone who is willing to talk. In this way, I may have more fun in a casual walk in park or have more topics to talk in a unplanned environment.
Then I may start to work at 9:00 am. I will cost 1 tomato to listen to my planned lesson, 1 tomato to review my understanding or outcome, 1 tomato to link what I learned with my real life, and 1 more tomato to output my experiences based on the new class, what did I do, what did I think, what did I learn from my own practices. By doing this, I will go through a closed circle to get a input, a review of main points, a link to my practice and a summary of what I learned by doing it.
In the afternoon or in the evening, if I am free, I will be able to use 1 tomato to filter my deep work theme from many different kinds of theme topics. Otherwise I can use 1 tomato to review what I have got in the one day's hard work. I can check if I have obeyed my former plan to do what I should do, if I missed anything or added anything, for what reason, and if I need to pay attention to something. Is there any disturbance or how do I feel about it, regret about anything or got any idea or lessons from the past one day.
Such a quick review enable me to plan well and check if I improve myself by every tiny step. Sticking my short-term, mid-term and long term aim well, I believe this continuation circle will lead me to my target successfully.
8 tomatos every day will track my time and energy devotion, if I really pursue something greater than myself, and if I really treasure my time and life, and if I missed any opportunity to become the girl I desire to be.
I want to check after a while if I improved in painting, writing, and speaking. If I can structure my mind well and if I can output regularly and effectively.
tomato method vs self-pride & satisfaction
I have been impressed by my own self-satisfaction. In 2017, I took several hours a day to draw colored pictures by myself. I mimic the examples on book and have to omit and add details to adjust the column position, the image size and remove anything I feel uncomfortable. I realized later that it's not really hard to follow other people's painting that much, but it's not my aim. I suppose myself to be able to tell my stories by painting. I use drawings as an effective way to disclose my thoughts on the knowledge points I get from listening to lessons , if I can put it back in my real life and settle them in a certain scenario to test if it works for me. So I aim to add meaning to my drawings and give some senses to my potential audiences to read and think deeply.
It's also a way for me to record those sparkling moments in my life, to memorize well and reach my goal as a video recorder when I am to tell people what I learned in my life. I want my paintings to be vivid, to show a certain conflict, a hero or a gangster, how they fight with each other,and the end may reveal something bigger than the story itself.
how to use the tomato method
I wonder under what circumstances I would like to use tomato method? Maybe it's only related to my target.
I have two targets in 2019. It's all about communication. One is English communication. The other one is painting and writing.
I have got so many lessons from bad communication before. I am not welcomed by my cool outlook. I am so lonely and isolated from people, even when I link I am not firm at all. I switch from one point to the other one, because I can hardly talk more, so I have to escape. So to learn more deeply, to think more deeply and to do and check what I can do, really matter a lot to me.
I expect that after one year of applying tomato method in my work and learning, I will be able to use English and Chinese freely to get what I need, to show how I feel, and obtain my links with other people. I can draw beautiful paintings to reflect my desires, my concerns, and my wishes to the world. In the latter part of 2019, I will capable to add my own paintings as well as English translations to my videos, so that I may illustrate a more vivid show to my audiences in the website.
My stories will be about learning and growth -- if I can solve a problem, if I can talk and listen better, if I can break the mould, and if I can get help and support from other people and win back others' respect.
This is all I have to say today--What I have thought about the tomato method?
