dwell本身意思是to live somewhere，在这里是动词短语dwell...on/upon sth有两种意思，一种是to think or talk a lot about sth which would be better to forget.沉湎于最好忘记的事情，也就是这件事情是不好的，唠叨赘述不快的事情。另一种是to look at sth for a long time.
coax和上文的cajole是一个意思，deceive，to make sb do sth by talking to them and being very nice to them.甜言蜜语哄骗
inquisitive：asking too many questions and trying to find out too many details about something or someon八卦、过分打听别人的事情。还有一种意思是interested in a lot of different things and wanting to find out more about them好学的，爱刨根问底，好奇的，兴趣广泛的

stumble有两种意思，一种是you put your foot down awkwardly while walking，踉踉跄跄地走。另一种是have a pause before saying.。在文中是短语动词stumble...on，to discover sth/sb by accident.意外发现，偶然遇见。还有另外一个短语动词stumble into sth，无意间涉足某事.

self-esteem：the feeling of being satisfied with your own abilities, and that you deserve to be liked or respected自尊心，有个动词短语和它意思一样self-respect

这一章主要讲了开头和结尾，从前面章节的开头和结尾就可以看出每一章开头都是总起，结尾升华。在第七章usage，结尾说出了开头的疑问what is good usage。看这章让我想起高中写作文，写议论文时要总起段落，最好在第一段末尾留下个悬念。作者说了开头要哄骗读者，可以用新鲜感，新颖、自相矛盾、幽默或者惊喜、不寻常的想法和事实，甚至悬念。
再用线索让他们产生兴趣，接着每个段落之间要有衔接性，起到承上启下的作用（这里真的是和以前写作文的方法一样）。选取的材料要多，最好来自不同地方。甚至讲故事吸引读者。其中得细节还得精简。
最后的结尾要引人遐想，给读者留下想象的空间。在非小说写作里面惊喜是最令人感到新鲜的做法。比如以前的说书“欲知下文如何，请听下回分解”。
每每写感想总觉得泛善可陈，过去几年看的书不是言情小说就是写作书，读起言情小说可以不休不眠，金庸类的武侠小说也可以，大一时看了很多历史书，史记看了前面就看不下去，张爱玲传中跳读了其中的爱情章。随后突然深感厌倦多年看的历史书，因为以前很爱看百家讲坛，随后把两宋风云，胡雪岩，还有超级厚的蒋介石传都啃了下去，这本还是我治失眠的良方。改变了听说中的蒋介石的形象。现在看的更多是经济类的书，比如卧底经济学类的书。看到群上一些朋友读百年孤独我是很佩服，这是本难读的小说。高中时老师让我们看的《基督山伯爵》，我一直没有看完.....
