Manu children are exposed to a large number of advertisements in the modern woeld. These advertisements have encouraged them to buy many anacks, toys and video games, and I agree that advertisements aimed at children should be restricted or even banned.
If advertising campaigns directed at children are regulated, children will not pester their parents to buy many goods for them. Children are not sensitive to prices and parents prefer to satisfy their needs. For example, many children like expensive toys, and girls are obsessed with fashionable clothes. These behaviors can put low income families under pressure. This provlem can be avoided if children are not bombarded with advertisements.
Advertisements are also responsible for many behavioral problems and lifestyle issues among children. For instance, some children like fast food since they are overwhelmed by fast food advertisements every day. Children are increasingly temperamental due to their addiction to violent electronic games, which are normally promoted by advertising firms, and their mood swings may pose a threat to their health.
On the other hand, we should recognise the advantages of advertisements. For example, some advertisements disseminate information about nourishing food like milk and cereal, and there are also many commericials sell books, games and toys of educational value. Parents can purchase the best products with information from commercials, when they do not have knowledge about the options available in the market.
Overall, I agree that governments should regulaate or even ban those advertisements which promote products harmful to the next generation.
