I finished my project in China last summer and I went to Sri Lanka this summer as an EP. I think I learned a lot including something nice and something worked as a lesson.The thing that I did is not so much because of the schedule of the project, but it’s also a nice memory of my life.
This are the things we did, first one is cleaning the turtle tank. We have learned some knowledge of the turtles and we watched how they swim, they are soooooooo cute. We brush the tank to keep a cleaner environment for turtles. But the problem is too much people cleaning just few tanks.
And the next one is hanging the board on the beach; we drew something on the wooden board to warnpeople not leave garbage on the beach to ruin the environment on beach, we makethe wooden board smoothly and we put color oil on that and dry it. And hang them on the beach.
And the next oneis Mangrove planting, I think this is the best activity in this project,because we really did something for beach, the protection organization provideus with some mangroves, and we learned the way to plant it, and we planted byourselves, and we finished to plant all the mangroves in a line to make theprotection line beside the ocean.
As an AIESECer, I learnedfrom this project and there are some feedbacks that I want to write about.
Diversity:
1: too much peoplefrom the same country means small groups, the project has this kind ofproblems.
2: Too manycountries don’t mean good diversity, to us; diversity means the quality of the communication.In a divided project we can’t have really good communication with each other.
3: the quality ofeps is a really big problem; Interview should play a good role in a project.
Goals:
1: I think aproject should have a really clear goal. The whole project should be leaded bythis goal. I think a clear goal is a must, SDG is just a word, so many timebeen wasted, and sometimes feel like in a tour group, paying money, goingsomewhere together.
2: I think thebetter way to realize a project is to put the big goals in detail, how to do inevery aspect, make a list. (This is based on that you guys want to realizesomething.)
Quality:
1: I think thequality of this project is not so good at the beginning but has been improvedlater on. Timeline is a really big problem, that’s why so many eps argue about.
2: The mangroveplanting is a good part of this project
3: Turtle releaseis a part with problems, paying for volunteer work is not so acceptable. Andthe work we did is more like a work on surface.
OCs:
1: firstly shouldsay “Thank you” to all of you, because you guys worked hard
2: Then there areproblems, I think the OCs’ job should be much more clear, not only the teamleader doing most of the job, everyone should have the responsibility of everyevents.
3: More clear divisionof labor lead to more successful project.
Evey step is worth to take, but the way we think and the goal we made can influence the quality of the we did.
