As we are in the development of digital evolution , data has occupied our daily life , our personal data has been the main asset of enterprises ,however majority people do not have any idea about data , data privacy or data ethics .
In traditional trend , the land , oil , gas .. are the main asset in which every person fight to occupy , nowadays information has became the new asset which is extremely easy to get from online. Normally she or he who has the most information will have more opportunies to succeed in the future.
For a enterprise , knowledge is getting more and more important , because people realized nowdays the new knowledge born by individual not manual .The knowledge is the root of innovation which is the source to make enterprise to be competitve in the highly saturate market .
Wisdom is about know-how , its easy for everyone get the information and knowledge ,but how to apply/understand/think them to achieve the objective in an effective way is through wisdom . Wisdom is the asset for a individual to be different and competitve from others .
The differences between Data ,Information ,Knowledge and Wisdom
(a) Data ，streams of raw facts .Data not only means numbers, can be in the form of text , images, audio clips, software programs, or other types of data. They can be created, processed, saved, and stored digitally.
(b) Information ，all information is data, when data shaped into meaningful form to you it become informationm,so the key difference between data and information is Value. When one data is meaningful to you then it can be information to you , but when it doesnt have value to you then it is just data.Information exists to provide insights and meaning.
(c)Knowledge , all knowledge is information ,and knowledge is actionable information,Information becomes individual knowledge when it is accepted and retained by an individual as being a proper understanding of what is true (Lehrer, 1990) . Knowledge requre the awareness or understanding ,when one paticular information can be actionable to an individual to apply into the environment then it is knowledge .
(d)Wisdom,when knowledge and experience blend together ,then will become wisdom which have the power of applying these attributes critically or practically to make decisions.Wisdom emcompasses a lot wisdom involves an integration of knowledge, experience, and deep understanding, as well as a tolerance for the uncertainties of life.
As we can see, data ,information ,knowledge and wisdom are totally distinct but they are interdependent to each other ,since the existence of one can trigger the occurence of another one . All of them do not stand alone but linking together .
Nowadays ,for an enterprise , to make a decision without data will be critical and dangerous . because data can be transformed into useful and meaningful information, when the information being accepted ,retained and understanded by the organization it will be the knowledge , so the knowledge will help enterprise to make the right decision which will reduce the risk of incident.
What's more , for an individual , to make progress continually without data is impossible right now , because only read the book manual is not enough arleady . There are many datas on the website , when the data can bring value to the individual its information , when the indiviual transfrom the information which is explicit to tacit then it become his or her knowledge . How to become wiser is to blend the knowledge what we got with the background , experiences what is unique .This is the way how an individual make his/her own history , keep upgrading at no end.
No one is isolate in this wrold , so the connection and interaction has result in the flow of data ,information , knowledge and wisdom. For an enterprise , the information system can help and support the flow of data ,information , knowledge and wisdom,since in an organization which emcampasses various individuals who have different backgrounds , education , culture ,personality , characteristics and experiences , how to integreae , explore and explicit the data ,information , knowledge and wisdom is not a easy thing , so the adoption of information system is inevitable for enterprises.
