MYTH BUSTER
Conventional wisdom holds that some people are innately creative, while most have few original thoughts. Some people are born to be leaders, and the rest are followers. Some people can have real impact, but the majority can’t.
1.conventional wisdom：〔有时是错误的〕公众意见，普遍看法 (the) conventional wisdom the opinion that most people consider to be normal and right, but that is sometimes shown to be wrong
例句：As traffic grew, the conventional wisdom was to widen the roads.
2.hold：怀有观点，to have a particular opinion or belief
例句：Experts hold varying opinions as to the causes of the disease. 专家们对该病的病因各持不同意见。
3.innate：天生的，与生俱来的，an innate quality or ability is something you are born with
例句：Children have an innate ability to learn language.

5.enhance：提高，增强，to improve something，可以与improve/strengthen/boost/lift等做同义替换。
例句：Good lighting will enhance any room. 良好的照明能给房间增色不少。
6.identify：这里表示确定、发现，to recognize something or discover exactly what it is, what its nature or origin is etc.可以与determine/discover等做同义替换。
例句：They identified a number of problem areas.
7.trust one's gut：相信直觉，gut在这里表示本能的反应或直觉，a reaction or feeling that you are sure is right, although you cannot give a reason for it.可以与instinct/feeling做同义替换
8.nurture/foster：都表示培育，nurture表示to feed and take care of a child or a plant while it is growing，比如nurture plants；foster表示to help a skill, feeling, idea etc develop over a period of time，可以与encourage/promote做同义替换。
9.conformity：遵守，遵从，书的副标题就是non-conformist，不墨守成规的人。
