The most painful cause of anxiety is probably the belief that you are not enough. This belief, when deeply buried and unseen, often takes the form of painstaking efforts to improve who you are-- attempts that frequently result in inner exhaustion and discontentment. You may do honorable work and make a positive difference and still feel plagued by feelings of inadequacy. Trying to make yourself worthy is ineffective and misses the mark. You cannot make yourself into something you already are.
