Consumption and enjoyment are not mutually exclusive under all circumstances; they sometimes overlap. Their differences are rather obvious, however. For example, visiting an impressive array of famous sites in superficial glimpses is a form of tourism consumption, while deeply appreciating the beauty of the landscape is a genuine way of enjoying nature. To put it simply, an activity that generates authentic pleasure must engage the soul; otherwise, it amounts to nothing but consumption, no matter how much we spend on it.
