用于书写,表示 out of 在非正式口语中的发音a voice like a foghorn:
informal a very loud unpleasant voice
Hagrid suddenly pulled out a very dirty, spotted handkerchief and blew his nose with a sound like a foghorn.
- grunt:
‘Where was I?’ said Hagrid, but at that moment, Uncle Vernon, still ashen-faced but looking very angry, moved into the firelight.
‘He’s not going,’ he said.
Hagrid grunted.
I’d like ter see a great Muggle like you stop him,’ he said.
[intransitive, transitive] to make short sounds or say a few words in a rough voice, when you do not want to talk 〔在不愿意讲话时〕发出哼声;嘟哝着说
’Sorry,’ he grunted, as the tiny old man stumbled and almost fell.

- blow your nose

Hagrid rolled up the note, gave it to the owl, which clamped it in its beak, went to the door and threw the owl out into the storm.
-
beak 鸟嘴
Hagrid suddenly pulled out a very dirty, spotted handkerchief and blew his nose with a sound like a foghorn.
