2. 体会这个词 （进阶篇）

“prevail” 有两个常见的意思，一个是“获胜”，另一个是“ (态度、风俗）流行”。今天我们学习的是它的第一个意思“获胜”。我们可以用 prevail 替换 win，triumph，比如《经济学人》在书评板块评价李开复先生的新书 AI Superpowers 时，在标题部分就用到了 prevail：

In the struggle for AI supremacy, China will prevail.

通过英英释义我们可以发现，prevail 本身表示“打败一个对手”，不过它的比喻用法也很常见，这时候主语一般是一些抽象的名词。

我们在用英文发朋友圈、微博时就用得上 prevail，比如：

前美国总统乔治布什曾出版过一本书，书名就叫 We Will Prevail，他还说过这样一段话：
