The recent ban of the US government on selling of micro-chips to the Chinese telecommunication company ZTE all around for 7 years starting from 2018 has sparked widely uproaring and heated debates in Chinese society both online and offline. A closer look of the case was enough to make people sank in sighs---on one hand, an outbusrt of angry for such superficial and ignorant breaching conducts of ZTE to the US. government's rules, especially after a huge sum of settlement money, USD$890 millions was paid by ZTE before, obviously this money has not brought ZTE any lesson. From this perspective, it cannot be singly critized that the sanction was all initiated by the American side, ZTE is indeed accountable and accusable for their own notorious malpractices. On the other hand, through this sudden hit, especially at the juncture of the China-US trade war in heat, it painfully reveals to all Chinese people as well as government, in the semiconductor industry, in particular the high-tech industrial and military application fields, China is still far away lagged behind the world-leading providers who are mostly controlled or owned by the US government. The rhetoric toughness cannot make up for any strength gain except a transient satisfication of pride. The life throttle of the whole semiconductor supplie which the high-tech communication industry has entirely dependent on has been hold in the hands of other party. China shall really think how to pull the whole nation's strength and supports to break this yoke.
