Once when I was six years old I saw a magnificent(宏伟的,壮丽的,令人印象深刻的,出色的,高尚的,高贵的) picture in a book, called True Stories from Nature, about the primeval(原始的,初期的) forest. It was a picture of a boa constrictor(大蟒;括约肌;使压缩之物) in the act of swallowing an animal. Here is a copy of the drawing.
In the book it said:"Boa Constrictors swallow their prey (猎物、捕获物,受害者,受骗者 捕食,欺凌,坑害)whole, without chewing it. After that they are not able to move, and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion."
