The graph shows average global sea level increase,for the years 1997 to 2005.Overall,the graph shows the the global mean sea level has been rising rapidly over the past eight years.In 1997, the global mean sea level was about 4 mm, which increased slowly over the three years, and in 1999 it was 5 mm. Since then, the global mean sea level has risen rapidly. In 2000 it rose to 10mm and by 2002 it was about 18mm. This year the rise has been slow, only 2 mm in 2003. This was followed by rapid annual growth, rising to about 28mm in 2005.（121）
