Chinese new year,also called spring festival,is the most important festival for we Chinese.The gala begins on the New Year's Eve,and ends on the day of the Lantern Festival,lasting 16days,but it is now different from before.
I grew up in a village.in my impression of childhood,the life was tough because of poor living condition,so New Year was my most expecting time in a year.As a child,My dream was that everyday was the New Year,so i could wear new clothes,having delicious and abundant food,receiving red packets,and set off fireworks; The happiest for me is watching and joining the folk culture show of New Year,such as dragon and lion dancing.This was my childhoods New year.
As time went on ,i came to Wuhan for university study at the age of 19.I work and settle down in Wuhan after graduation;But i have to go back to hometown for big family getting-together in New Year .Great change has taken place in my hometown during my departure;My hometown is prosperous now because of the development of economy.I can have delicious food at any time which i could only have at the time of New year in my childhood.I no longer receive red packets instead of giving them to younger generation;The traditional culture of New Year has faded away even disappeared;Dragon and lion dancing could only watch at TV.Playing majiang and gambling is very popular.The most time in New Year’s holiday i spend is paying visits to my relatives.i feel the new year is not for me ,but for others.I feel boring when i go back to hometown to spend new year.I wish i could have my own new year .This is my Chinese New Year,from the past to present.Thanks very much
