① The Importance of Travel Photography - Why do people take travel photos?
For a lot of people, the purpose of traveling is to experience new things. Since photographs can be regarded as miniatures of reality people tend to rely on them to document the fleeting moments that they experience while traveling. Memories may fade, but they can always go back to the photos they took to reminisce and relive the transient pleasures.
In addition to capturing the experience, people also take photos to certify their travel experience. By taking and sharing travel photos on social media, they prove that they're having fun on vacation. Travel photos have become souvenirs of their daily lives and trophies of thein hard work.
②Pros and Cons - How does photography affect your travel experience?
I feel that l enjoy myself more when I carry a camera with me. When l began to look for pictures, l became more aware of my surroundings and paid more attention to the details. So in some way, photography can enhance my travel experience.
But I also noticed myself feeling pressure to hold a camera all the time. Sometimes I just want the pure experience itself. And having a camera between me and the scenery feels like a block between me and reality. When I'm focused on getting a shot, I'm probably ignoring what's transpiring at the moment. So in this sense, photography could limit my travel experience.
I think it's all about finding a balance. I need to decide when to have my camera out and when to put it away. Sometimes it's important to control my impulse when l want to fumble for it and just immerse myself in the moment.
