span这个词，我以前基本只知道其名词用法，表示一段时间或者范围，比如life span, time span. 但今天跟读这句话发现span还可以做动词，表示横跨或涵盖，除了本句的用法，还比如
可以说一座桥 a bridge spans the river，也可以说某段经历 spanned several years。
更多例句：
The project was completed within a short time span.（这项工程在短时间内完成了。）。
His career spanned more than 30 years.（他的职业生涯持续了 30 多年。）。
