1. What happening does Mrs. Bradley tell about to show that Kubwa at first never learned by what was told him?
My answer: Kubwa never saw any sense in waiting for something he wantted, so one day he ran away from the herd to the river and stretch his trunk in the river, a bad example is as contagious as the measles, anther little elephant follow him did the same thing yet got bitten by a crocodile. Kubwa must be scared from this experience and learned a lesson.
2. What kept Kubwa from being such a good fighter as he grew older?
My answer: It was not only Kubwa's strength that made him win, for he often tackled elephants stronger than him, but he was quick to think and could get into action before the other fellow take their attack. As Kubwa got bigger and bigger, he got deadlier and deadlier in action.
3. When he could not fight so well, how did he get rid of his rivals.
My answer: He made up his mind that he would never be driven away until he die. He began to watch out for rivals, whenever he met any elephant that he thought might prove of danger to him, he began to plot against that elephant. And always the elephant came to an unlucky end.
4. Tell three things Kubwa did for the herd that made him a good leader.
May anser: 1) When they go into the swamp or forest, he led the way to the grazing grounds and sampled all the best place for miles around, and he would bully any strangers or any small groups that wandered into the grazing grounds when he was there. 2) Some fathers would slip off into the forest when the youngsters are trotting around and let the mothers have all the bother of bringing up the children, Kubwa was too much of an overload for that, he never left his herd. He bossed the mothers, and he saw to it that the mothers bossed the children. None of the tricks that he used to play on his mother for him. 3) Under his protection and leadership, one can have a quiet life and good food, so many mild-mannered elephants began to came and join his herd. 第三条是凑数的,我在书上其实只找到前2条。欢迎补充。
