This is by all means an ordinary day for Tree, except waking up in an unfamiliar dormroom of an unaquainted boy,and hearing a strange song from her mobile phone--a ringtone set by someone to remind her of her birthday--September 18th.
It is such a usual day.Having just slept with a guy she newly met at the party last night,so what?Anyway he won't mention it to nobody,so it is over now!Fighting against the hangover ,rolling her eyes and showing her contempt at every boring one around her,putting her tongue in the mouth of another girl's boyfriend and bed with a married teacher…Actually,she completely does not cares. Acting like a bitch is of super fun!Besides,another party is waiting for her tonight!
Not until a music box appears do things become a bit odd. Lying in a forward channel,it is singing"Happy birthday".Tricks by some friends,she thinks,and calls them to come out,whereas no one responses.Alone in the center of the channel,the little box is playing the song repeatedly before a sudden crackle.Then somehow, Tree turns around.
There appears the face.It is covered by a common smiling face mask which is popular all around the campus and the streets.Under the flickering light of several color lamps, however,the hollow smile with a bucktooth turns out to be weird and hideous.Brightness and darkness take turns to occupy its cheeks,and its dreadful gaze is full of malignance. This will not easily end up as a trick.As a matter of fact,it is merely a start--a tremendously endless game between death and live is coming forth.
Again and again!It has almost driven her mad!Each time she gets killed,she will immediately wake up on the morning of the same day,terrified and filled with rage,aching from the residual pain of being stabbed or beaten or perhaps,run over by a rushing bus…and with a great number of questions in her mind.
Who is behind the mask? How to avoid being killed?How to capture the killer and carry out her revenge with success?
"Repetition and Reincarnation" is a regular method in movie production, so in order to draw the eyes of the audience,a film must contain something of novelty.You may consider「Happy Death Day」 as a horror film,while actually,it is a work full of warmth,as well.
