This passage depicted Haw how to overcome his fear and weakness kept hunting the new Cheese in the maze. I think the most valuable part of this passage is Haw’s thought.
In the process of searching, Haw realized that the Cheese at Cheese Station C had not just disappeared overnight, the amount of Cheese had been getting smaller, towards the end the flavor had been growing old, some even moldy.
He understood if he paid more attention to he could have predicted the arrival of changes, if he anticipated changes all along he could have prepared accordingly just like the mice had been doing.
He determined he would maintain more alert from now on, he would trust his basic instincts to sense when changes were to occur,he would get ready to copy with the changes of life, and try hard to take control.
Finally he remembered the best of himself was the times when he was moving along.He wrote his thought on the wall:Smell The Cheese Often So You Know When It Is Getting Old.
