I really think that it is time you applied yourself much more seriously to your studies.(KNUCKLE) 答案是I really think that it is time you knuckled down to your studies.
It's time you did something = 'you should have done it already or started it' . We often use this structure to criticise or to complain:
It's time the children were in bed. It's long after their bedtime.
Knuckle down: start to work or study hard, especially if you have not been working very hard before.
大学里的期末考试之前有基本有一个月不到的时间可以用来复习功课 e.g. I'm going to have to really knuckle down to my work if I want to pass my final exams. We were packed in like sardines.
1. We were packed in like sardines.
2. I often feel like packing this job in and finding something else. ( stopping doing something, especailly a job)
3. I wish I could be one of those people who sail through exams and still pack in a huge amount in their spare time.( manage to do a lot of activities in a period of time )
It's not a bad job, and some days I can get off early if the boss isn't around. 这里的get off 可以用 knock off 替换 又想到knock it off跟cut it out 还有knockoff(冒牌货) 又想到在Norwegian Wood中有用过knockout(extremely attractive or impressive) 等等。
