Ever since I was young, I have been fascinated by the dynamic realm of science andtechnology, with a particular passion for computer science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). My innate curiosity about the workings of the world, combined with a profound interest inscience, has driven me to explore further into the possibilities within the interdisciplinaryconnections between society, science, and innovation.
From an academic standpoint, I have made a conscious effort to strengthen my knowledgein areas that resonate with my long-term aspirations during my secondary education. Byselecting Physics and Chemistry as my electives, I have deepened my understanding of thefundamental principles governing the natural world. Physics taught me about electricityand magnetism, which are key to understanding how digital devices like smartphones work. Chemistry, on the other hand, showed me how the properties of substances can lead to newmaterials and energy solutions. Simultaneously, my passion was complemented by theinspiration drawn from my brother’s study of computer science at university. His insights and guidance have enriched my understanding of the underpinnings of technological progress, sparking my fascination with how these innovations are transforming industries. I've come to realize that the principles from Physics and Chemistry are the very foundation of the technologies that are reshaping our world. My desire to unravel the forces behind digital innovation has grown, especially as I recognize the potential of technology to synergize with other disciplines and propel societal progress.
Beyond academics, I see myself as a creative and multifaceted person with a diverse range of hobbies like drawing, piano, singing, writing, and sports like skateboarding and skiing. This versatility makes me well-suited for interdisciplinary fields that blend arts and technology. My engagement in leadership roles and community service has also honed essential skills that complement my academic and career goals. As vice president of the science club, I organized events, collaborated with peers, and strengthened my teamwork abilities. Additionally, serving as an ambassador for events like International Day and a meeting with Professor Zhang Xiang, the president of Hong Kong University, allowed me to engage with individuals from various backgrounds, enriching my understanding through their diverse experiences. These experiences have endowed me with the communication and organizational skills necessary to excel in both academic and professional settings.
I'm passionate about studying how advanced technologies, like AI, interact with society in my university. This interest is driven by my commitment to use technological advancement to address modern challenges and enhance life across sectors like healthcare and education. My eagerness to explore these issues in depth and apply my skills to tangible problems is matched by my solid academic foundation, leadership experience, and passion for technology. These qualifications make me well-suited for university studies. I am confident that I will be able to utilize the opportunities provided by university to make a significant contribution to these crucial areas.
